    Unanswered: Drop Corrupt tables....

    Hello All,

When restoring from a backup I have some bad tables with corruption (can not say which error number right now as I am recovering). I can bring the database up in bypass recovery mode, and the tables with the corruption are not that important. The problem is I am having trouble droping these tables from the database - a simple drop database command does not work.

Is there a dbcc command which will allow me to drop a table? I am aware of the dbcc checkdb(db_name,drop) - was hoping there is something similar but for tablealloc ?????

    Many thanks in advance...

You are talking about dbcc dbrepair(<dbid>, dropdb). There is no equivalent for tables. There is a manual drop using dbcc extentzap that can be obtained from Sybase Tech Support.

thanks willy, but I think sybase tech support wont support my version of sybase (it's old )

I am going to try sp_rename and then select into's and also bcp'ing out, deleting and bcp'ing in

Failing thit I am going to hand in my notice.

    thanks....
