    Unanswered: OEM 10g doesn't accept SYS login credentials

    Please help out!
    I'm a beginner DBA. OEM 10g lets me log in with a SYS user and at times doesn't and gives me ORA-01017 error when it doesn't. At times you get ORA-12519. I use the same username and password everytime. Also when it does log me in, I click on Database and I try to log in there and it doesn't. What could be wrong?

    PEBKAC - most likely.

    oerr ora 1017
    01017, 00000, "invalid username/password; logon denied"
    // *Cause:
    // *Action:

    Are you 100% certain that the login attempt is against the "right" database?

    $ oerr ora 12519
    12519, 00000, "TNS:no appropriate service handler found"
    // *Cause: The listener could not find any available service handlers that
    // are appropriate for the client connection.
    // *Action: Run "lsnrctl services" to ensure that the instance(s) have
    // registered with the listener, and are accepting connections.

    What's PEBKAC? How do I sort that out?
    it must be against the right databae for it lets me log in after a couple of tries.
    i always run 'lsnrctl stat listener' everyday to ensure that the portal and other applications can connect to the instances.
