    Unhappy Unanswered: Search Records

I want to create my own search box instead of having the find and replace. I need for it to be able to search the Subform as well as the main form.

I need to search the IR number the FirstName, LastName..etc. does anyone of anywhere I can get some information on that or does anyone know how??

    Help??

Could you describe a bit more detail about what you want to happen if a value is located?

    The Results

I would like for the records for that value to appear in the main and sub form the seach for will be located in. I just want to be able to search by the subform as well as the Main form. You cant do that with the Find and Search box that Access provides you with

Ok, so you want to store a value in a textbox on your main form?

I don't understand what you mean by this:

I need to search the IR number the FirstName, LastName..etc.
Remember, we know nothing about your database or how it's set up.
oh yeah... documentation... I have heard of that.

    OK let me explain sorry

I have a form with a subform attached to it, the main forms record source is the Parent table and the Subform is the Child table both of course are linked (relational database). There is a total of 1562 Records in it, what I want to do is in the picture below theres a little form called Subjects_Form I want to be able to type anyone one of those fields and have the results appear in the main form, does that make sense??

    Closer.

I assume Incident Number is your key? If so, are you only searching for first name, last name and date of birth?

You may be better served by making your textboxes comboboxes instead. In the afterupdate events of your combo box, you could perform all of the attribute handling...
oh yeah... documentation... I have heard of that.

No I'm going to get rid of the date of birth field and change it to IR number and yes that is my primary key. Can you explain a little further please how exactly how would I go about doing this?? "afterupdate events of your combo box, you could perform all of the attribute"
