    Unanswered: Return to Scroll Position After Requery?

    I have a contiuous form that always has the same number of records. This form polls the database for changes and when there is a change, the form requeries.

    How do I return to (or maintain) the scroll position and refresh the data on the form? I searched and couldn't find a scroll position property. I recall seeing this but it could've been Flash, Java or VB.

    Thanks,
    Carl

    back to scroll position

    1) Save the current record key -- if you don't have one add an autonumber field to the recordsource and save that

    2) me.requery

    3) re-locate form to the saved key, example below

    Me.RecordsetClone.FindFirst "[id] = " & saved_ID
    Me.Bookmark = Me.RecordsetClone.Bookmark

    4) enjoy!

    I supppose this wouldn't work if there is no current record. Typically, the user is just scrolling the form, it's rare if they actually click on one of the records.

    ...then i guess you are out of luck.

    there is probably some fiendishly clever way to address the scrollbars from some API or other, but it is not going to be easy.

    fake it?

    dont' show all the data-of-interest in the continuous: if a user is fascinated by one particular record, make him click on it to show some craftily hidden detail in the footer or header ...now you've got him!

    or

    make the user click a record to trigger the poll/requery?
