Unanswered: upgrading from 7.3 to 7.4

Hi i upgraded my postgres sever to 7.4 recently forgot to do a pg_dump for 7.3 one, is there anyway i can restore my old db in 7.4. When i tried to start the server it says

FATAL: database files are incompatible with server
DETAIL: The data directory was initialized by PostgreSQL version 7.3, which is not compatible with this version 7.4.8.

I need my old db structure badly, help me if anyone can.

    thanks

I guess the only way is to un-install 7.4, re-install 7.3, do a pg_dump and then install 7.4 with a new data directory
