Unanswered: Migration to SYBASE 64 bit ASE

    Hi,

Where can I find a system requirements document for upgrade from sybase 32 bit to 64 bit on SUN Solaris platform ?.

My query is mainly "Can we install and run a 64 bit ASE on a 32 bit OS" ?.

    Regards,
    Krishna...

You need a 64-bit OS to be able to run a 64-bit version of Sybase.

Apart from that it's a straight binary swap (i.e. there is no conversion of the database between 32 and 64 bit)

    You need a 64-bit OS

Booting the 64-bit kernel has been available since the first release of Solaris 7. The system must be running Solaris 7 release or later.

If the hardware is 64-bit capable(UltraSPARC processor), a new software install will, by default, install the 64-bit packages.
