    Unanswered: Help on RMAN

    Hi there,

    I'm trying to use rman to recover my database.

    Can anyone help me? I have not used rman before so I would really appreciate if someone can give me some steps on how to use it.

    Greatly appreciated!!

    It depends on what the problem with the database is ...
    Check out the "Restoring and Recovering with Recovery Manager" manual...
    Find your situation and go from there.

    Cardinal rule #1 on my list of "Backup Top 11". Practice, Practice, Practice.

    you can't go wrong with:
    PHP Code:
    restore database until time "to_date('my_date','mm/dd/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')";
    recover database until time "to_date('my_date','mm/dd/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')";
    alter database open resetlogs
    this is way overkill if all you need to do is restore a controlfile or something ...
    understanding what the problem is should be your first priority since then
    that will lead you to how to solve the issue.

    you can lead someone to something but they will never learn anything ...
