    Unanswered: How to use multi-thread

Oracle 9i has been installed on solaris 8, with 4 CPUs, when running with a dayend job, I found from vmstat that the CPU idle is always 75%, it seems that only 1 CPU is used, is there any parameter to govern the multi-threading behaviour on running SQL?

Is there only one job running? If it is then you might want to investigate getting the job to use parallel query. Wether it speeds things up really depends on your job.

By having more than 1 task/job/SQL running at a time.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
