    Unanswered: Logical Partitions

I need to create three logical partitions in a database. The database is used for chemical compound synthesis and each partition will store results at different stage of synthesis.

When users login the web interface they should be able to choose in which partition they want to store their data.

Is there a standard way to create these partitions in a DB?

    Yes, using SQL.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.

Why not have a flag in a table to indicate what "partation" the data represents. Without additional information, it is had to determine what you want.
