Question Unanswered: New on DB2 8.2 - backup

Need some advise on DB2.. previously i'm using informix, i can do online backup with the LTAPE set to null.

i have choose not to activate logging for my dev system.

how can i backup the DB online ? because if i issue command db2 backup database db online to /dev/rmt0. it will give error that not allowing me to backup the db.

My concern if i activate logging in my dev system i will fill up the archive log folders, and need regular backup of log files.

we don;t need the log. it's only dev system anyway. Anyone having some advise ?

I think without retaining Logs, your Online backup image will be useless.Better plan a downtime and take offline backup."

    Thanks,

Use the same command after removing the word online. If you use logarchmeth1 and logarchmeth2 database configuration parameters properly, you can set up the equivalent of physical logging which allows ONLINE backups(should be used for production systems). The defaults are for a non archived system where you CANNOT do ONLINE backup.
