Unanswered: Specify the Report datasource at runtime

I need to display some statistical reports, such as Sales per month, or Stock per month. The report contains one column representing the object of the report (may be customers, products, market segments, etc), then 12 columns representing the months.
Currently the application contains one report for each type of column on the left and each type of report (sales, orders, stock).
I am trying to optimize this, and use one report form for everything. In order to do that I need to set at runtime the datasource query. All queries output the same column names, so all I need is to pass the datasource query of the report as a parameter.
Any idea how to do that?

Use one data source name, i.e. a query, for your report, modifying that query immediately prior to running the report.
