    Unanswered: staring Oracle10G

    hi all

whats the difference between starting oracle with dbora script (/etc/init.d/dbora start) versus logging into sqlplus and typing startup.

    thanks!

init.d/dbora is for autostarting the database on the server.
so, if the server crashes or reboots the server will start the database and the listener for you.

otherwise you would do it manually at commandline.
