Unanswered: How to make PostgreSQL Server to allow non-local connections

    Hi,

I'm a new bie to postgreSQL.

How to make PostgreSQL Server to allow non-local connections i.e other client computers(those having PostgreSQL installed) can connect PostgreSQL database.

My friend told that pg_hdba.conf file should be configured and ALSO some special command to be executed to make postgreSQL to accept connections from the client. Some postmaster with -i parameter shoudld be started. But i could not succeed. Can anyone please help me regarding how to connect and access data in PostgreSQL through LAN network

    My PostgreSQL version is 8.1
    My OS is Win 2000.

    Thanks, in advance.
