    Well, rename the file to have an xxx extension.

    To get Access to run it, you have to open it from Access, or add the full path to an Access shortcut.

    Otherwise, you can use Windows Folder Options to associate xxx files with Access, but I suspect you are trying to avoid having "double-click to open' functionality.

    Something to keep in mind: regardless of what extension the database file has, when you open it, Access creates an LDB file with the same name in the same directory, so it's not entirely possible to hide the file, since this LDB gives away the filename.
