    Question Unanswered: Database schema comparison

    hi
    I will like to know is there any command exist in oracle to perform schema comparison?
    Or
    Is there any open source tool exist for schema comparision

    No command. I'm sure there are tools, but I don't know them. However, it is quite easy to do your own comparisions using the system catalog views such as ALL_OBJECTS, ALL_TAB_COLUMNS etc.

    did you try Oracle's dbms_metadata.get_ddl from a generic script and then comparing the output files from your two instances ?

    select ' select dbms_metadata.get_ddl(''INDEX'', '''|| index_name ||''') from dual;' from user_indexes ;
    select ' select dbms_metadata.get_ddl(''TABLE'', '''|| table_name ||''') from dual;' from user_tables ;

    set prior executing and spooling the results

    set pagesize 0;
    set long 90000; in your sqlplus session
