    Unanswered: Oracle Expert Connection Issues

    Hi all,

I have set up oracle management server for my oracle 9i databases, and it seems to work perfectly now. I have set preferred credentials for each database and I never have a problem connecting to them. However, when I go into Oracle Expert within enterprise manager and attempt to collect info on one particular database I get the following error:

    Code:
XP-21161: Database connection attempt has failed

ORA-28009: connection to sys should be as sysdba or sysoper

Cause: Expert was unable to establish the requested
                 database connection.

Action: Check the accompanying Oracle Server message for
a full description of the connection problem.

It is possible that the service specification
used in the connection attempt is not correct.
Expert accepts 3 types of service information:

o A database alias as defined in the
                      TNSNAMES.ORA file

                   o A Net8 descriptor block

o A network port specification using:

                      <host-name>:<database-port>:<database-sid>
Does anyone know why I would face connection problems with Oracle expert but not with OMS? When I launch Oracle Expert it automatically finds my node and discovers all the databases, and puts them in the left pane of the expert tool window, and so I can't really understand why it can't connect.

    Many thanks,

    Paula.

    Cool

    >>connection to sys should be as sysdba or sysoper

Check your prefered credentials to logon as sysdba

Sorry, should have said my preferred credentials are sys as sysdba. I created a remote password file a while back so that I could connect to OEM using sysdba.

Just to let you all know, I fixed the above problem by including the following parameter in my init.ora:

    O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY=TRUE
