    Unanswered: SQL1224N error

    Hi,
Can anyone tell what this error means ?
SQL1224N A database agent could not be started to service a request, or was terminated as a result of a database system shutdown or a force command. SQLSTATE=55032

I am trying to create a database when i get this error - and subsequently db2 crashes - i am using db2 v8.2 (fp 3) 32 bit server instance .

Does the db2diag.log contain any additional messages?

db2diag.log is the first place to look for messages that may give some clue ... Set the diaglevel to 4 to capture more messages

The diag log shows a dump of call stack - i have a bunch of trap files that were generated from the crash - looks like its failing trying to create semaphore agent (ipcs command shows only memory and queue segments) - cld be a resource issue on os level ?

Can you check whether you have sufficient real memory by checking top or vmsat..
