    Question Unanswered: User questions?

I have some questions about user managment. Why when I'm in a session
with user 'scott' I can get sysdba privilege by executing conn / as sysdba; without any authentication?

Is it due to host (Linux/Windows) connected user group?

    Cool

Because conn / as sysdba uses external (Unix/Windoze) authentication and there is a database account (like OPS$ORACLE) that is 'identified externally' and has been granted 'sysdba' privilege.

    Question

Thanks but I'm rookie in Oracle. What do you mean with external (OS) authentication? Where can I configurate this? How can I set 'identified externally'?

    Cool

If you can connect using conn / as sysdba, it's already set for the current server login id.
