    Unanswered: SQL plus login problem

    Hi I just installed SQL plus from Oracle 8i but I cannot login at all.

    The problem is that I cannot login at all..

    I dont know what to use as username, password and host string.

    this is the tnsnames.ira file...
    I have no idea if this is correct the way it is:
    path were this file is ---> D:\Oracle\Ora81\network\ADMIN

    # TNSNAMES.ORA Network Configuration File: D:\Oracle\Ora81\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    ORACLED =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.80.2.20)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = OracleD)
    )
    )

    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    )
    )

    1) 8i is & has been obsolete for years.
    2) SQL*Net is NOT required to log into the database.
    3) it appears that you have NOT read any applicable installation manual which can be found at http://tahiti.oracle.com
