Unanswered: [DB2] SQL1032N No start database manager

    I have installed DB2 V8.1 under AIX 5.3 for WPS 5.1.

After many days, I stop the database. When I want to start instance by following command I have as reply the error.

    $ db2start

SQL1032N No start database manager command was issued SQLSTATE=57019

When I check the file db2diag.log, I found the following message:

Look at following error in the db2diag.log file....You have license to run DB2 on 1 CPU box, but you have 2 CPUs.

    db2start

this is not the problem - just warning to increase the nbr of proc. for license
    db2licm..... (see command for detail)
another problem - are you the instance owner ?
is sysadmin group specified in dbm cfg ? and are you part of sysadmin group ?
    looking for other hints..

    Hey,

Is it on multiple logical node?

One option you can try as your last weapon is to reboot your m/c and then try db2start.

    Thanks

    Thanks for you all.

1 santosh2005 : yes I have 2 proc, but one proc is active not two.

2 przytula : Yes I connect as db2inst1 (su - db2inst1) in order to start db2 instance db2instance (32 bit). What tha's mean "is sysadmin group specified in dbm cfg" in particular, dbm cfg?
Yes I have added root group to db2group in /etc/group.

3 JAYANTA_DATTA : yes there is an other instance db2ldap (64 bit) in the same machine, different directory.

I try to follow all your indication in order to resolve problem (db2inst1 can't start).

If you want any other information to help me in this problem, I am here !

Many thanks in advance for you all !

it seams to be TCP/IP problem

do u have static IP for the AIX server ?
    do u configure AIX TCP/IP correctly ?

check db2set -all to see the COMMUNICATION Method

1 Yes I have static IP for the AIX server and AIX TCP/IP is correctly configured. the resullt fo "db2set -all" is :

    root@ldapdb2:/> db2set -all
    [i] DB2_INLIST_TO_NLJN=YES
    [i] DB2_EVALUNCOMMITTED=YES
    [i] DB2_RR_TO_RS=YES
    [i] DB2COMM=TCPIP
    [g] DB2SYSTEM=ldapdb2
    [g] DB2ADMINSERVER=dasusr1

2 the sysdam group specified in the "dbm cfg" is "db2grp1" which "db2inst1" (owner for db2inst1 instance) is a member.

3 Fo more information, I have installed two instance "db2inst1" and "db2ldap" with 32 bit in the same machine. After, I convert dbéldap instance in 64 bit.the two user owner oof the instances use the same sysdamin group "db2grp1".The two insctance work fine. After I stop the two instance for reboot machine, the db2ldap could start but the first one db2inst1 could'nt and give the following error "SQL1032N No start database manager command was issued SQLSTATE=57019".
To determine which instance applies to the current session, I enter the command "db2 get instance" I have as reply "db2inst1".

In fact, T don't knwon the source of the problem.

    PLEEASE HELP ME.

    MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE

It can be due to incorrect ownership or permissions on db2sysc executable.
Check the file permission in <instance_home>/sqllib/adm - It should be "-r-sr-s---" and owned by root:db2grp1 (in your case)

Log in as root and update the instance (db2iupdt).

    thanks for your response.

If I understood, I must change the owner of the directory <instance_home>/sqllib/adm by the command "db2iupdt" under "root".

    How to do that?

If I didn't unterstand your suggestion, what I should to do in order to resolve the problem.

    Many thanks in advance.

Check the permission of db2sysc executable in <instance_home>/sqllib/adm directory - it should be "-r-sr-s---".
    If its different,
    - login as root
    - change directory to /usr/opt/db2_08_01/instance
    - Update the instance - ./db2iupdt db2inst1

Before the instance update ensure all DB2 interprocess communications are cleared for the instance to be updated. As the instance owner, run: <instance_home>/sqllib/bin/ipclean.

    Smile db2start : SQL1042C, SQLSTATE=57019

    Hi,

Platform: AIX 5.3 with ML (Maintainance Level 4).

    Problem:
    =======
db2start command gives the following error :

SQL1042C An unexpected system error occured
SQL1032N No start of database manager command was issued. SQLSTATE=57019

    Resolution:
    ========
If you get the error on DB2 UDB 64 bit Instance (DB2v8.1.1.64 with FP7),

    1) First check the "db2diag.log" file to get the information about wht kind of error it is...if the db2diag.log shows something like below:

    2007-01-03-15.46.02.453311-360 E1713A322 LEVEL: Error (OS)
    PID : 364732 TID : 1 PROC : db2sysc 0
    INSTANCE: db2inst1 NODE : 000
FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, oper system services, sqloRunInstance, probe:210
    CALLED : OS, -, unspecified_system_function
OSERR : EPERM (1) "Not owner"

It implies that there is problem with the permissions of the file "db2sysc".

So go and chk the permissions of the file:
    <instance-home>/sqllib/adm/db2sysc

You will see that the permissions of this file are different than "-r-sr-s---".

So this is the problem. To restore the permissions, execute the following steps :

    1) Login with "root" user. (U must know the root password :-) )
    2) cd <instance-home>/sqllib/adm/
    3) chmod 7550 db2sysc
(After this make sure that "db2sysc" permissions are set to "-r-sr-s---".)
    4) cd /usr/opt/db2_08_01/instance
    5) ./db2iupdt db2inst1 (as a root)

After all the above steps, you should be able to execute the command : "db2start" as db2inst1 instance owner. This will start the instance successfully.

    Thanks and Regards,
