Unanswered: Which server for DB ?

    Hello,

we need new server for our database, and we don't know, if is better to buy a two 3.8G Xeons ot two 2.8G dual core intel CPUs. On both cases, the server is configured to 8G ram, 8x73G (15k scsi320) raid10 partition. OS W2k3 ent, MSSQL 2005. There are three database files 6G , 4G and 3G large and they are accessed by 120 users.

Do you have any ideas, which processors are better for our scenario ? (Dell 2800 server).

    Thank for any ideas

    Pavel

I would go for 2.8G dual core intel CPUs as they tend perform well (in may case) with proper configuration.
