    Unanswered: Opening MS Access 2003 files with Access 2000

    Can you open MS Access 2003 files with Access 2000 ?

    not as far as I'm aware, its very rare that any package can read a later version of the same software. The only reeal exception is Office XP, but then that was alwawsy alledged to be nothing more than a marketing ploy by Microsoft to encourage people to change needlessly.

    there is no reason why you can't save your version in A2003 as A2000 format. A2003 works happily in A2000 format.

    I've always been a bit suspicious of Microsoft's "Backwards compatibility" promise with Office - backwards compatibility generally means "nothing new".

    In any case, as Mary suggests, run your Access 2003 set to automatically save in 2000 format and you won't run into too many problems.
