    Unanswered: Collate in Oracle

How could i define a collate (character set ) for a column definition while creating a table. In SQL Server i ll be doing some thing like this,..

    [COL_CHAR] [CHAR] (20) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL ,
(In SQL Server collate can be defined at table level also)
By the way whats the default collation type(Character set) used in Oracle.

    with thanks,
