    Unanswered: wrong ownership and group

    Hi gurus,

I facing some problem sometimes when copying file and create tablespace.
I am using my oracle id to do the copying of logfile and creation of table space and the ownership become root and the group besome sys.
And this problem only happens some time and not always

Does any one face this problem and care to share with me the solution?

Any new datafiles or log files are produced by the database engine, not by the user issuing the command. It looks like you (or whoever installed) the database software used the root user. This is a VERY bad thing. The database will run, but you have thrown away all security on the server. An oracle user with limited permissions should have been created and then used for the installation.

Are you sure, try the following command

    ps -ef|grep pmon

This will show the user that the database is running under.
