Unanswered: Possibility of storing RSS news items in database?

    Hi

I want to store RSS new items, and also read the RSS feed to download and parse the full text fromt he links in the RSS code.

Now I know RSS is basically just XML.

However, I am not experienced with XML.

I have got as far as writing a program which will use utl_http.request_pieces to retreive the RSS script.

I am pretty sure I could custom write a program to simply text parse RSS and store the info I need, however, I want an elegant solution.

Do any of the XML packages offer this ability?

You could even avoid the step of retreiving the RSS pieces off the web to then parse it. You can use DBMS_XMLPARSER.PARSE to do this right from the web. Take a look at the documentation below.

    Fantastic WilliamR.

    This looks perfect.
I can now expand this so that the full RSS linked article can also be downloaded into the database.

I will test this next week.
