Exclamation Unanswered: need to sort part numbers that have various prefixes

    Hi group,

    Brand new here.

I have a project where we are working with a lot of part numbers. The numbers have some prefixes that appear and then don't appear though each part number has in common a number sequence that follows.

Is there a way in access to ignore certain letters and numbers (the prefix items) and sort based on the other numbers?

    Your help is most appreciated,

    James

You would have to parse your part numbers into a new field and sort on it.
oh yeah... documentation... I have heard of that.

you could also possibly use a query, and in the criteria section of the query use either NOT or set the criteria to include/disclude the numbers that you want. eg NOT 123-????? or criteria 123-????? or crietria 123*
sometimes simple is best.... and i'm just a simple fellow.
