    select SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV', 'ORACLE_HOME') INTO V_OH from dual;
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
    The average person thinks he's above average!
    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Got excited there for a second, but I don't believe ORACLE_HOME is a SYS_CONTEXT parameter?

    One way to capture environment variables is by calling a JAVA routine from SQL.

    The question is: do you want the ORACLE_HOME on the server or the client?

    I would assume that any SQL solution (if there is one) will return the server's ORACLE_HOME
