    Unanswered: Redo log format

    Hello,

I am trying to extract information from a redo log and can not seem to find any documentation on the format of the redo log files. Loading the files and reading them with logminer is not really an option becuase of the DBA time involved. Using 'strings' works to a point but you end up missing a large amount of information and there are not any timestamps extracted.

I was initally hoping for a perl module that was aware of redo/archive log format to extract the information but I can not even find any documentation to write my own module.

    Your Help is appreciate.

This is nonsense, logminer is your best bet.

Are you surprised you can't find any documentation on redo log format?
Oracle is not open source - the redo log format is proprietary.
