Unanswered: SQL Server 2005 Job Failure

I have an Integration Services package running fine when i execute it manually.
However, when i schedule the package in SQL Server Agent.
    it fails to execute.

The only message i get "package execution failed. the step failed"
i changed the job owner to local administrator's account and the sa login but it still failed.

How many steps are in the job?

I think the best you can do is put some flags in your code/package to find out where the error is occuring.

Yes, SQL Server 2005 error messages manage to be annoyingly verbose and woefully uninformative at the same time. Bravo, Microsoft!
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

i changed the owner of the job to local administrator but the connections in the Integration Services packages were using SQL authentication which failed.
I had to use windows authentication for the data source connections in the packages where that windows user had local adminstrative rights on the server. Finally it ran.

This package was upgraded to IS from DTS where it's been working for a couple of months. i was about to just revert back to DTS on SQL Server 2000
