Question Unanswered: Running database code from an external file?

Is is possible to execute procedures in a database from a file outside the database? I am looking for a way to create a daily text file that extracts the day's transactions. The file would be used to load the data to a mainframe. I already have code that creates the file I need, but I have to go into the database every day and click a button to run it. I'd like to automate this process. I don't even know the words I need to look it up on this board or to do an internet search.

Actually - a really easy way to do this is:

    1) Set a reference to the db with the code in (Tools-> References-> Click browse and browse to the db)
    2) Call the code using this naming convention:
    ProjectName.ModuleName.ProcedureName
