Unanswered: How I do this in VB

    1. Count dimension members ,
    2. if dimension members > 65,000 then
    3. create new level, automatic grouping

I am Creating OLAP database through VB program; I want to check to see dimension members contain more 65,000 members

Assign the value of the number of members to a variable charMembersCount (as a char as it's more than 32767 but less than 65535)

    If charMembersCount > 65,000 then
'execute the code someone else may be able to provide
    else
    end if
    Geek it till it mHz

Why a character type? Use a long type, which handles 32 bit integers (Up to 2x10^9 +) String typpes are woefully inefficient as compared to numeric types.

If your dimension members are in a database, use a Select Count (FieldName) SQL Query to return the count of the records which match your criteria.

Why use a bloated data type when you don't need to? Char is 2 bytes, Long is 8 bytes.
