Hi,

I did a little test. I installed succesfully an Oracle 10G (10.2) on Windows 2003server edition. Also created a listener. But when stopping my OracleServiceDEMO, I see in my Oracle_Home\database directory a logfile oradim.log. It writes there some information in it like this:

Wed Jun 07 16:11:13 2006
E:\oracle\product\10.2\db_1\bin\oradim.exe -shutdown -sid demo -usrpwd * -shutmode immediate -log oradim.log

after restarting service it gives this:

Wed Jun 07 16:11:23 2006
E:\oracle\product\10.2\db_1\bin\oradim.exe -startup -sid demo -usrpwd * -log oradim.log -nocheck 0

so this is ok. But when I do again a stop of the OracleserviceDEMO and restart it, I get this:

Wed Jun 07 16:14:11 2006
E:\oracle\product\10.2\db_1\bin\oradim.exe -shutdown -sid demo -usrpwd * -shutmode immediate -log oradim.log

Wed Jun 07 16:14:31 2006
E:\oracle\product\10.2\db_1\bin\oradim.exe -startup -sid demo -usrpwd * -log oradim.log -nocheck 0
Wed Jun 07 16:14:31 2006
ORA-12560: TNSrotocol adapter error

but the service is started, and database does not function, but when again stopping:

Wed Jun 07 16:16:31 2006
E:\oracle\product\10.2\db_1\bin\oradim.exe -shutdown -sid demo -usrpwd * -shutmode immediate -log oradim.log
ora-01012: not logged on

what am I doing wrong?
After restarting server, it's back ok. And I can also start it up with scripts. But why can't it just do it like this. And why goes it over the listener for stop/starting the service??

Hope someone can help me?

thanks.
