    Unanswered: sybase install folder

    how do i know the sybase install folder on unix from java...

    i tried knowing env variables by sourcing env-files in the sybase user's home directory. but if the sybase is installed not as sybase user, then how do i get it?

    The filenames stay the same, see
    ls -l ~/SYBASE.*

    do a
    select @@servername
    then select @@version
    you can do @@errorlog also.

    better do a ps -ef | grep for dataserver | grep servername

    Atleast you will know from where the dataserver is running

    install directory is one-dir-up/install

    once done
    parse the result to get the version

    generally
    for 12.0 search fro ASE-12_0
    for 12.5 ASE-12_5
    for 15 ASE-15_0
