    Hi,

are any of you aware of the existance of a built-in Oracle function that would be capable of returning the line number of the statament within the code that raised the error condition ???

    Thanks in advance,

I'd say that what you are looking for is a debugger. As far as I know, Oracle doesn't offer such a possibility. What you could do are two things: first, split code into smaller segments and put DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINEs so that you could follow the code flow. Second, and one could say obligatory, is having EXCEPTION handlers which would trap errors instead of raising unhandled exceptions.

    Cool

You could query the "call stack" with DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_CALL_STACK function.
