Unanswered: Retrieve New Record field value before commit
Is there a way to use the data entered in a fiedl in the new record before it gets committed? Looking in Access Help, it says that data is held in cache while it is being entered, and isn't written until commit has been sent. Something like NewRecord.fieldname? I have seen examples of how to do this in forms (cascading combo boxes is an example) but can you do it in table design using the combo box?
I have been looking for a function that I could add, and access through the expression builder - that way, I could use it in a simple query in Row Source. The only other way that I can find that sounds like it could work is entering a userfunction into the RowSourceType field, but would still need to know what was entered in the other field. I guess I am trying to validate a normalised table - am I going about this the right way?
