    Unanswered: cross schema queries

    Hi,
    I am asked to copy blob data(a single record) from a table in one schema to a similar table in another schema. I am not aware how cross schema queries work in oracle. In sql server we use servername..databasename.objectname what is the equivalent for this in oracle .. also what care is tobe taken for transfering blob objects? please inform.

    I would be very thankful for any pointers.

    thanks for all the help.

    Harshal.

    If both schemas are in the same database, you'll only have to GRANT privileges in order for this thing to work:
    Code:
    FIRST_USER > GRANT SELECT ON source_table TO second_user;
    FIRST_USER > CONNECT second_user/his_password

    SECOND_USER> INSERT INTO target_table (column_name)
                 (SELECT column_name FROM first_user.source_table);
