    Unanswered: Oracle locking timeout?

Do sql statements blocked waiting on a implicit Oracle lock ever timeout, or does it block until the lock is released, end of story?

    deadlocks are deadlocks.
normally you would have to kill the thread/session in order to release.

if you have a for update loop then another session will wait for the row to be released.
