    Unanswered: Oracle DB 10G XE

    Hi,

I have just installed Oracle DB 10g XE on my computer.
    1) Wich is the name of DB and the SID? I suspect XE
    2) Can I rename this DB and the SID with an other name ?

    I hope in your answer.

    Best Regards
    Gaetano

I believe you should have more carefuly read messages Oracle provided during installation process, instead of clicking <Next> without paying necessary attention.

Its default name and SID are "XE" (and would be "ORCL" if it was Enterprise Edition).

Database can be renamed; check, for example, this page.

    Hi,

    thanks You for the answer.

I have tried to install Oracle 10g XE. but I have other problems in the DB Control Page:
    1. I cannot add a new tablespace. I must add a tablespace only from sqlplus with command: CREATE SMALLFILE TABLESPACE "MYTABLESPACE" DATAFILE 'D:\ORACLE_HOME\ORADATA\XE\MYTABLESPACE01.ORA' SIZE 500M LOGGING EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO
    2. I cannot assign this new tablespace to user; I cannot modify the default.
    3. Toad don't work with Oracle 10g XE.
Probably, I have little experience with this product and would be necessary to read a guide or tutorial. Can You suggest someone to me?

    Best Regards
    Gaetano N.

All Oracle products and related documentation can be found at the same web site - it is Oracle Technology Network.

    XE documentation is here.

What makes you think that TOAD doesn't support Oracle XE?
