Unanswered: Oracle 9i on AIX 5.1

    Hi All...

Successfully installed Oracle 9i on AIX 5.1 machine. Now when I try to create a database, struck at 46% in Database configuration Assistant. i.e. Creating and starting oracle instance.

Please let me know if any one has information on this issue....

    Regards

    Cool

Have you checked if it's not waiting for you to execute the root.sh script?

Ceenu... make sure you are running the latest patched version of Oracle. When we ran on AIX we had some problems in previous versions of 9i which usually were fixed with a patch. 9i (v9.2.0.x) particularly had problems with the JVM which is used extensively in the DBCA.

I'd patch to 9.2.0.7 and try again...

I did execute root.sh... when it promted.

Some more information/clues on the error...

I reinstalled the OS and installed oracle 9i...
I got following message during the process..."LINKING ORACLE 9i DATABASE 9.2.0.1.0"

Error in invoking target install of makefile /home/oracle/OraHome1/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk
when I ignore this and continue it raises some more similar messages and finishes installation.

Now during database creating the process is struck at 46%....
