Unanswered: DAO 3.51 OpenDatabase ... Question

    Hi all ...

Yes, yes, I know ... This is a question in the "lesser arts" ...

Correct me if I'm wrong here ... Invoking the OpenDatabase method with a db name that IS NOT syntatically an Access DB should throw an error correct? Ex:

    Set MyDB=OpenDatabase("C:\MyFolder\flatfile.dat")

I've got some legacy code I'm trying to work thru here ...

    Thanks.

    hi Mike,

i believe it handles all the normal things that A can get external data from: like A; ODBC; ISAM ...most likely including Text ISAM

    maybe something like
    Set MyDB=OpenDatabase("C:\MyFolder\flatfile.dat", False, False, "Text;")

    currently using SS 2008R2
