    Unanswered: I need a Proceedure to WAIT then retry command.

    I have a process that I need to select count(*) from a table
    If value less than threshold
    Wait 5 minutes
    Retry command
    If threshold met continue else fail

    This is in an oracle Package.

    We will change this in unix to fix scheduling in future however that is not in my control and I need this tpye of fix ASAP.

    My question is the wait part of this
    In SQL server there is a waittime command is there something in Oracle that is similar.

    10 g database. Thanks

    Probably more efficient to just setup an oracle job (dbms_job) to call your procedure every 5 minutes.

    You could do this:

    dbms_lock.sleep(5*60);
