    can't have wide cards in a if

    if objrs.Fields("serv_code") like "%L" then
    response.write objrs.fields("serv_status")

    could look like

    if instr(objrs.Fields("serv_code"),"L")>0 then response.write objrs.fields("serv_status")

    ===============
    if objrs.Fields("serv_code") <> like "L" then
    response.write objrs.fields("serv_status1")

    if left(objrs.Fields("serv_code"),1) = "L" then
    response.write objrs.fields("serv_status1")

    =================================

    could have the instr(??,??) the wrong way
    hope this help

    See clear as mud
