Question Unanswered: LOV Column Mapping Dynamically?

Correct me if I’m wrong but it appears to me that a lov cannot be used for multiple fields? For example, I have 3 fields…

    dx_1
    dx_2
    dx_3

I want each of these text fields to have access to the same LOV. However, the "return item" has to correspond to a single field, dx_1, dx_2 or dx_3, depending which one the user is in at a given time. Therefore, I need to change the "return item" on-the-fly through a trigger. Is this possible? I see no syntax examples of changing the return item using SET_LOV_PROPERTY built-in in the “Help” section. Any thoughts?

I *think* that you can have ONE record group, but need THREE lists of values (which would then use that single record group), each of them with its own return item list.

Yeah, been there, done that.... but was looking for a simple dynamic way of column mapping. Based on some other research on the web, there doesn't appear to be one. Looks like I'll have to go with creating one LOV pre text item to accomodate column mapping. Arrg!
