Exclamation Unanswered: tricky performance problem on DELETE

    hello,

i have following problem on my IDS 7.31 :

Table A (with 20 columns) has 450 000 records; and an index on
    column ID.

executing an select ....from A where ID = 1234 is OK (very fast)
    BUT
    when i execute
    delete from A where ID = 1234 it takes 10 to 20 seconds !!!

i did an "update statistics", but i have the same behaviour.

    any suggestions ????

    thanks a lot

    Erik

A delete trigger defined for the table? Or perhaps an 'on delete cascade' constraint on a child table?

BTW. If you select just the indexed value the engine will only go through the index pages and will return the result much faster offcourse than when it has to fetch the subsequent datapage from disk.

    Regards.

yes there is(was) a BAD trigger which we transferred from an old system.
we have forgotten to convert it.

    thank's for the hint.

    PROBLEM IS SOLVED
