Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)

We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to support multiple highly available transactional and data warehouse databases underpinning a 24x7 global web services application. Position responsibilities consist of both operational and application support including backup/recovery, monitoring, problem identification and remediation, DB server tuning, query and application optimization and tuning, close interaction with and best practice guidance to Java developers.

The candidate must have a bachelor's degree, at least 2-3 yrs experience as an Oracle DBA in a Linux environment, a proven track record in managing and tuning highly available Oracle databases, excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The individual must be a self-starter, who can work independently, follow through and complete tasks with a minimum of oversight.

Sun ONE Directory Server (LDAP) is a critical component of the system infrastructure. This position’s responsibilities include monitoring, support and some development of Directory Services.

We provide services globally with very high availability and performance. The primary goal of the DBA organization is to ensure uninterrupted availability, superior performance and scalability of Oracle and Directory Server databases.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• At least 2 years on the job experience as an ORACLE database administrator.
• Experience working in a highly available 24X7 database environment.
• Experience with Oracle hosted on Red Hat Linux and Windows.
• Experience with Red Hat or other Linux system administration
• Availability to support production databases on a 7x24 basis.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency writing PL/SQL procedures, functions and packages for administration and application support needs.
• Unix shell scripting
• Effective judgment in prioritizing and time allocation.
• Flexible, self-directed and motivated individual, able to accommodate to shifting priorities.
• Excellent communication/customer service skills. Ability to understand others and clearly express thoughts.
