Unanswered: Ignore the & char in string literals

hey guys, got a little quandry, i created some insert statements from a table in sql server to Insert into an Oracle Table.
well one of the columns has several Customer names with the '&' character in it.
    i.e. B&B Plumbing
Oracle is stopping at the & and asking for a variable, if i cancel the prompt, it simply skips the & and the following text.
is there a way to escape this function when passing a string literal 'B&B Plumbing' so, oracle doesnt ask for variable input?

    thanks
    rik

You could also SET DEFINE OFF.

The substitution variable feature is part of the SQL*Plus application rather than Oracle in general.
