    Stop a dll from loading

Does anyone here know how I can stop a dll from loading? It's the last part of a virus on my kid's computer. It loads early in the boot process, even in safe mode. Since it loads, I can't delete it.

    Hi

I know nothing about sorting out viruses

However - whenever I have had these sorts of problems I just google the dll, visit places like this:
    http://spywarewarrior.com/
run HijackThis and so on. I go see the experts in a nutshell.

I've gotten pretty good at removing viruses (my kids are very adept at finding them), but this one can't be dealt with by Spybot S&D, AdAware, or CCleaner. Norton sees it, but can't do anything about it, and nothing out of the ordinary shows up in HijackThis.

The dll (log41j) show no results when googled. Must be pretty new.

I'll check out the link you posted.

    Thanks

Just a quick thought (not sure it will work) .. if you know where the file resides, boot using a floppy disk (system) and delete it using DOS command.

Why can't you just prevent the DLL from loading, then delete it after the reboot? It seems to me like you're going about things backwards.

That's my question! How do I stop it from loading, so that I can delete it?

Take kid's hard disk out and plug it as a slave into your computer. Find the .dll, delete it, and put the hard disk back.
