Unanswered: SQL 2005 sps need to be recompiled on a daily basis why?

    Hi All,

I have recently upgraded one of our servers using the in place upgrade method to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000.

We are currently having an issue with stored procedures as they appear to be running slowly and the only way to correct this issue is to recompile them on a daily basis.

Has any one else had a similar issue, any ideas what could be causing this to occur.

I've noticed that they run slowly on our servers too but we're not allowed to recompile daily. It's weird; some things that ran really slowly on SQL 2k are running really quickly on SQL 2005 but the opposite is also true; some things that were swift on SQL 2k are slow as a dog on SQL 2005.

Was the proc written for SQL 2005 or are you using the same code as on SQL 2k?
