If it is from a PC base dbf files (FoxPro/Dbase/Clipper)
You can use the Ms ACCESS as a staging area.
create an ODBC DSN TO THE SYBASE 12.5.3
IMPORT THE DBF FILE TO MS ACCESS.
EXPORT THE MSACCESS TABLE TO SYBASE 12.5.3 USING THE ODBC CONNECTION

-NOTE TO MAKE IT COMPITABLE TO SYBASE DATA TYPES.
TRY CREATING THE TABLE IN SYBASE
LINK THE SYBASE TABLE IN MSACCESS
DESIGN THE LINK TABLE IN MSACCESS -- YOU WILL SEE HOW MSACCESS INTERPRETS THE DATA TYPES.
THEN DESIGN YOUR IMPORTED DBF FILES IN MSACCESS ACCORDINGLY

You could us the free tool that comes as part of ASE 12.5.3 CD called the "Power Transfer".

Setup and ODBC DSN to the dbf file and Power Transfer pumps it into ASE.
