The Database Administrator is responsible for the overall operation, integrity, security, and accessibility of SQL database systems. Duties include:
Manage database release management processes and coordinate maintenance of development, testing, and production environments.
Setup backup and recovery strategy; maintain routine backup jobs; perform recovery as needed.
Utilize problem-solving skills to help enhance and support databases, enterprise systems, software packages, and internal tools.
Interface with development project teams to ensure efficient database operations and provide value that assures effective use of SQL Server Databases.
Coordinate with development team, systems team, vendors, and all level users to solve any database related issues.
Establish and maintain database designs, firm-wide database strategy, performance tuning, query optimization, procedures, applications, processes, and documentation.
Evaluate and recommend software and hardware components to improve system performance.
Researching new database and development technologies.
Meeting delivery targets for projects, and providing timely status reports for those projects.
Primary database technology is MS SQL Server, others include Oracle and Universe.
Demonstrate database administration capabilities.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work in high-energy, goal-oriented team development environment.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments simultaneously, anticipate required activities/tasks, and work according to changing priorities and deadlines.
Strong attention to detail.
Thorough knowledge of source control procedures, and knowledge of database management tools like SQL Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, Erwin and Visio.
3-4 years professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, and migration, Transact-SQL programming, DTS packages, data warehousing, database design and data modeling, backup and recovery management, capacity planning, query optimization and performance tuning.
B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree.
Experience with Automate, Universe, .NET database development, spreadsheet application development (VBA
Experience with SQL Server log shipping and replication environments
Experience working with financial market data and financial applications, including trading systems, portfolio management, accounting, and/or tax systems.
80k -95k + Bonus Plan (Up to 50% of base salary)
401K company match up to 15K.
